	I wrote to you last September regarding the possibility of my working
at IRCAM at the end of next summer.  (I have enclosed a copy of my earlier
letter.)  I must have some official response on this matter rather soon as the
Stanford teaching schedule for the autumn must be made up in the next few weeks.

	If I go to Paris I will be taking a 3-month leave of absence from Stanford
and the Music Department must find a visiting professor to take over my classes.
Since all these things take a good deal of time, I would appreciate hearing from
you as soon as possible.
